I am often asked, “What goes into a Wedding bathroom box?” Well if you’ve bought my book you will be in possession of a nifty little checklist but if you’ve not then here are some ideas to help you answer this question…
What is a Wedding Bathroom Box?
If you’re having a marquee wedding then mostly likely you will be having a suite of portable toilets. Portable toilets are all very functional but often at a wedding, guests are arriving with little clutch bags with only the necessities so supplying some creature comforts in the bathrooms can add a little touch of luxury and make your guests feel considered and loved. Even if you’re not hosting a wedding in a marquee then I still think it’s a nice little touch to install little bathroom boxes in your venue’s bathrooms.
What goes in a Wedding Bathroom Box?
There are no set do’s and don’t’s – think about your wedding day – the time of year and location. For example a wedding in the middle of a city would have a slightly different requirement for a bathroom box compared to a wedding in the countryside.
I like to think of them as an extension of your hospitality.
Mini Medical Kit
Some key items are those that would be in case of a minor medical mishap:
- Plasters
- Painkillers
- Antacid
- Blister plasters
- Insect bite relief
- Antihistamine
- Antiseptic cream
Seasonal
Depending on the time of year some items which could be useful in the summer could be:
- Sun lotion
- Aftersun
- Insect repellent
- Cooling spray
Beauty touch-ups
Maybe one for the ladies bathroom:
- Hair bands
- Hairspray
- Kirby grips
- Cotton buds
- Make up removing wipes
- Comb
- Eyelash glue
- Blotting tissues
Freshen Up Kit
- Mouthwash
- Toothpicks
- Breath mints
- Deodorant/body spray
- Tissues
- Sanitary towels/tampons
- Mini sewing kit
- Antibacterial gel
Presentation
Pop everything into a box and pop one in each toilet. Perhaps include a little tag/sign inviting guests to help themselves.
Just to make the bathroom environment even nicer, a little vase of flowers/reed diffuser/air freshener are always welcome. Make sure the bin is emptied regularly and the floor kept dry and tidy – a great job for your on the day wedding coordinator to do 😉 Investing in some luxurious hand soap and lotion will also elevate your guest’s bathroom experience.
